As part of the Navarra International Film Festival (NIFF), Esther García, producer of The Secret Life of Words, Volver, and The Skin I Live In, among other titles, and Melitón Honorary Award winner at the third edition of NIFF, will share her experience and knowledge of film production in a relaxed discussion with festival director Joaquín Calderón and free attendees, in what can be considered a genuine masterclass.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ESTHER GARCÍA 

She began her career working as a production secretary on Kim, Pam, Bang... Fire (Pedro Ola, 1975) and the television series Curro Jiménez. She has subsequently worked with directors such as Álex De la Iglesia, Fernando Trueba, Fernando Colomo, Isabel Coixet, and Guillermo del Toro.
In Matador (Pedro Almodóvar, 1986), she worked alongside the Almodóvar brothers and has since been part of the El Deseo team, producing all of Pedro Almodóvar's films.
Throughout her career, she has worked on more than 90 films and numerous television series, both in Spain and Latin America.
Member of the Association of Women Filmmakers (CIMA).
She has received seven Goyas: three for Best Production Direction for Mutant Action (Álex De la Iglesia, 1992), All About My Mother (Pedro Almodóvar, 1999), and The Secret Life of Words (Isabel Coixet, 2005), and four more as a producer for Volver (Pedro Almodóvar, 2007), The Secret Life of Words, Wild Tales (Damian Szifrón, 2014), and Pain and Glory (Pedro Almodóvar, 2020).
She has developed a production model associated with acting independence, giving impetus to new filmmakers.2018 National Film Award for her career spanning more than 30 years nationally and internationally, becoming the first female producer to win the award. The film industry has a long history of improving its work, with people of different ages and backgrounds, but a common love: cinema.
