AWARD PRESENTATION

JOAQUÍN CALDERÓN
Golden Melitón
Joaquín Calderón (Pamplona). He trained at the Navarra Theatre School, the Arts Educational School London, the Teatro de la Abadía, and the ECAM (Spanish Academy of Film and Television Arts). He continued his training with directors such as Montxo Armendáriz, Mariano Barroso, and Benito Zambrano, among others. In 2013, he launched Arquetipo Comunicación and wrote, produced, and directed "Caminante," his first short fiction film, which won, among other awards, First Prize at the Navarra Tierra de Cine festival. That same year, he began producing and directing the documentary "Sarasate, The Violin King," which premiered in 2016. In 2015, he participated in an intensive workshop with Abbas Kiarostami, Iranian director and Cannes Palme d'Or winner. In 2017, he produced and directed the documentary "Basque Selfie," which was presented in competition at the 2017 San Sebastián Film Festival. He is currently involved in the new venture of Estudios Melitón, of which he is one of the promoters. He is also involved in the organization and development of the Navarra International Film Festival, serving as its director.
IZASKUN GOÑI
Melitón Navarra Film Challenge
Izaskun Goñi Razquin, President of CEIN and Director General of Business Policy, International Outreach, and Employment for the Government of Navarre. An economist with a degree in music, she has been responsible for promoting the strategic sectors of Navarre's S3 (Smart Specialization Strategy), including the creative and digital industries. She previously worked at the Bertiz Tourist Consortium, an organization that organized the Bidasoa International Short Film Competition for 10 years.
AHMAD TAHERI
Melitón Workshop
An Iranian journalist and translator, he has lived and worked in Spain for 20 years. He is an expert in Persian Sufi poetry and has translated several Persian poetic works into Spanish with Clara Janés. He is the founder of the Persepolis Intercultural Association. He worked as the official Spanish translator for film director Abbas Kiarostami and currently works as a translator for Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, with whom he had and continues to have a close friendship.
ALBERTO CAÑADA
Melitón Award: direction
PhD in Information Sciences from the University of Navarra. He is a historian and author of publications on the history of cinema in Navarra. He was head of programming and communications at SAIDE (1991-2011). He also served as president of the Lux Film Club, a film director at the Navarra Athenaeum, and a jury member at various film festivals in Navarra. Since 2011, he has served as the Director of Programming at the Navarra Film Library.
MARIO PARDO
Silver Melitón: Performance
AISGE Delegate in San Sebastián. Spanish actor born in Berga, Barcelona, in 1944. He studied acting at the Official School of Cinematography in Madrid. His artistic career began as an amateur at the Teatro Español Universitario while studying Philosophy and Literature at the University of Salamanca, where he won the Unamuno Prize for his work. He made his film debut in 1969 with a role in Del amor y otras soledades (Love and Other Solitudes) by Basilio Martín Patino, and on television, his portrayal of the shy Maximiliano Rubín in Fortunata y Jacinta (1980) was particularly celebrated.
SANDRA AGUIRRE
Melitón of Honor
Actress, playwright, and director. Professor at the Navarra School of Theatre. Trained at the Navarra School of Theatre, the creative laboratory of Mar Navarro and Andrés Hernández, the Madrid Film and Audiovisual School (ECAM), and Studio Schinca, among many other professional development and training venues. Currently, she is touring with "3, 2, 1, Tricky Jump!" (ENT·NAE Company), "El eco de los silencios" (Mara-mara antzerki, Navarra), and "Chez emballage" (premiering next October, with the Zumaia Municipal Band).
